Our beliefs

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

In Ephesians 3, Paul says that the heart of Jesus is expressed to the world through the church. This means that the church, at its best, gives the world a tangible encounter with what it feels like to be loved by Jesus.

Our aim at Covenant Church is to foster and celebrate the culture of the Kingdom of God that we see taking root among us. Not perfectly, by any means, but our prayer is that it becomes increasingly evident among our people and in our city that God is at work here.

We desire to see God create…

Our desire is to manifest Jesus in our city.  Instead of ministering on the basis of people coming to us, we aim to take the message and mercy of Christ to the people in our neighborhoods, networks, and nations.

Who is Covenant Church For?

Spiritually speaking, you will encounter people who are all in different places in their spiritual journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time, some are returning to church after an absence, and others have spent most of their lives in church.

To determine if the Covenant Church is for you, consider your religious experiences, rather than your age, income, or ethnicity.
The following is a list of indicators that may help:

  • Has never or rarely attended church throughout their lives
  • Grew up in church but now sees church as irrelevant to their lives
  • Has a desire for God but no desire for religion
  • Searching for spiritual answers
  • Seeking a community focused on biblical depth
  • Has bitterness toward religion and/or God due to a bad church experience
  • Is skeptical of Christianity
What if I don't normally go to Church?

That’s OK. We have many people in our church for whom the church experience is new. We seek to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church. We also do our best to explain each element of the worship gathering so that people don’t get lost along the way. We want Covenant Church to be a place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out yet; we don’t either.

What are the Worship Gatherings like?

The worship gatherings at Covenant Church are relaxed, but focused. We aren’t flashy, and we don’t believe people need big productions to connect with God. We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We teach from the Bible. We pray, meditate, sing and reflect. We respond by taking communion together on a regular basis. We try to make our worship gatherings accessible to those who are new to the Christian faith, and at the same time, fresh for those who have been in the church for a long time.

What about my children?

Covenant Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be taught about God and his plan for the world in a fun learning environment. Covenant Kids is provided for newborns through 5th grade. For more information on our family ministry, click here.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

We offer equipping classes for our middle and high school students on Sundays at 9:30AM. These classes focus on teaching, discussion, and fostering our student community.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Though there is no set dress code at Covenant Church, most of our people dress on the casual side.

Can I invite my friends?

We would love for you to invite your friends. We do our best to be a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are looking to belong to a community of Christ-followers.
