about us
welcome
We know that it can be intimidating to step into a new environment when there are many unknowns. To help you know what to expect, we have put together a list of frequently asked questions to give you an idea of what the Covenant Church is like on a weekly basis.
We are meeting at the Bossier Instructional Center (the old BPCC building next to Airline High School) For directions, click HERE.
We meet for our Worship Gathering on Sundays at 10:30 am. We also have community groups that meet throughout the week at various times and locations.
Spiritually speaking, you will encounter people who are all in different places in their spiritual journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time, some are returning, and others have spent most of their lives in church.
To determine if the Covenant Church is for you, consider your religious experiences rather than your age, income, or ethnicity.
The following is a list of indicators that may help:
• Has a desire for God but no desire for religion
• Searching for spiritual answers
• Seeking a community focused on biblical depth
• Has bitterness toward religion and/or God due to a bad church experience
• Is skeptical of Christianity
That's OK. We have many people in our church for whom the church experience is new. We seek to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church. We also do our best to explain each element of the worship gathering so that people don't get lost along the way. We want Covenant Church to be a place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. It's okay if you don't have it all figured out yet; we don't either.
The worship gatherings at Covenant Church are relaxed, but focused. We aren't flashy, and we don't believe people need big productions to connect with God. We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We teach from the Bible. We pray, meditate, sing and reflect. We respond by taking communion together on a regular basis. We try to make our worship gatherings accessible to those who are new to the Christian faith, and at the same time, fresh for those who have been in the church for a long time.
Covenant Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be taught about God and his plan for the world in a fun learning environment. Covenant Kids is for newborns through 5th grade. For more information, CLICK HERE.
Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Though there is no set dress code at Covenant Church, most of our people dress on the casual side.
We would love for you to invite your friends. We do our best to be a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are looking to belong to a community of Christ-followers.
The Covenant Church is made up of several elements:
WEEKEND EXPERIENCES
When we gather together as a large group...
The Worship experience will be refreshing and casual. Our worship through music will be creative, engaging and reflective. The teaching is expository, conversational, authentic and activistic. The focus will always be on God- who He is and what He has done, is doing, and what is next.
SERVING OUR CITY
When we gather together in our neighborhood…
We partner with organizations both faith-based and otherwise that are actively, intelligently, responsibly, and passionately committed to our city.
We do it in the model of Jesus - together as friends, family, & community.
We use the gifts, talents, and abilities that are uniquely ours to tangibly transform our city.
COMMUNITY GROUPS
When we gather together in homes…
We pursue Jesus.
We share life.
We celebrate growth.
We share our resources.
We serve those in need.
We challenge stagnancy.
We pray fervently.
We listen intently.
We talk intentionally.
We laugh uncontrollably.
We cry unapologetically.
We live authentically.
